Food and flavor

The tastiest sentence in the course: Náto paránta xói ríki nóe! — this grilled plantain is delicious! Nóe — tasty. Xói — grilled. Joshín — ripe (also 'red'); xoó — unripe (also 'green'). Color and ripeness share words — the plantain teaches the palette.
Culture note. Grilled plantain is daily food along the Ucayali. A subtlety: joshín means both ripe and red, but xoó means only unripe — not the color green. Blues and greens share one word, yankón: the forest rising into the sky, seen as a single spectrum. And a tip worth the whole lesson: when food is brought to you, say nóe! irake! — hosts remember the guest who praised the cooking in Shipibo.
