Nobody's language should be taught anonymously. Every speaker who recorded for this course is named here, with the community and the river they learned in — unless they asked us not to, which is always their right.
Recording begins with communities along the Ucayali in 2026. As soon as the first recordings arrive, the people who made them appear here.
Why the river is named
Shipibo is not one uniform thing. The Shipibo of the Pisqui is not the Shipibo of the Callería. A course that says "this is how you say it in Shipibo" with nothing attached is quietly claiming to speak for everyone. So every recording carries the name of the person and the place it came from, and where two communities say a word differently we keep both rather than choosing one and calling it correct.
What each speaker receives
- A copy of everything they recorded — theirs, and their community's, permanently.
- Their name and photograph here, if they want them; either can be declined or withdrawn at any time, and we take it down within 14 days.
- The finished course, free, for them and their family.
- The course free for any Shipibo person. This is your language; nobody from your people pays us to study it.
- A share of every sale returning to the communities along the Ucayali — the figure set with the speakers, not announced at them.
