The humble voice

The most beautiful grammar in the tradition: the singer steps aside. Ronki — 'they say that…' — turns I sing into they say that I sing: Ea ronki bewai. The question marker -ki does the same work: enki tenabobanon — 'is it I who will be illuminating?' The ego is separated from the action so the medicine may do the work. Presentation is formal and gentle: ea xawe bewai — I, a gentleman, sing.
