Three things and you can read every word in this course. One: x sounds like English sh — máxko is MAHSH-ko. Two: j is a breathy English h — jakón is ha-KOHN. Three: the accent mark shows the stressed syllable — and it matters, because moving it can change the word. That's it. Everything else reads close to Spanish or English, and the full sound system gets its own lesson at the end of this module.
